What Is the DualCap® System?

- The Light Blue DualCap® disinfects and protects needle-free valves.
- The Dark Blue DualCap® disinfects and protects male luer connectors when IV tubing is disconnected.
Together, these caps provide a simple, passive approach to connector disinfection while helping support infection prevention protocols.
How Quickly Does DualCap® Work?
DualCap® begins working immediately upon application. After 30 seconds of contact time, the alcohol-saturated cap disinfects the connector surface. Once in place, it also acts as a physical barrier against contamination for up to seven days under normal conditions when not removed.
This combination of disinfection and protection helps reduce the variability associated with manual “scrub the hub” practices.
Does DualCap® Replace Alcohol Scrubbing?
When DualCap® has been used according to the Instructions for Use, additional alcohol scrubbing is not required before accessing a protected needle-free valve unless the connector is visibly soiled.
This can help standardize connector disinfection practices and reduce reliance on individual scrubbing technique and compliance.
Which Vascular Access Devices Can Use DualCap®?
DualCap® is compatible with a wide range of vascular access devices that utilize needle-free valves, including:
