Injection Mold Processing Technician

Job Summary

An Injection Molding Process Technicians primary job is to set up, monitor, operate and troubleshoot plastic injection-molding machines. This requires specialized knowledge of materials, specific tools, and equipment. Troubleshooting tasks might include dealing with inconsistent material, faulty equipment, human error, and preventing defects from occurring.

Plastic Process Technicians
  • Ensure injection molding machines, auxiliary equipment, and processes are set to regulation parameters, meet quality standards and all production goals.
  • Set up and start up molding machines, read blueprints, and check products with calipers, and other testing methods and devices.
  • Provide feedback on mold design and assist Engineering to dial in each mold for optimal cycle time and quality.
  • Operate, Monitor and troubleshoot processing problems, perform preventive maintenance tasks, and document process changes.
  • Familiar with all aspects of scientific molding and mythologies of over molding processes.
  • Understand the variables of components and raw a material.
  • Flexibility in schedule

Manufacturing Engineer

Job Summary

Reports to the Operations Manager. Responsible for the implementation of project and process support activities toward attainment of departmental and plant goals. Primary focus in areas of capacity expansion, quality/waste improvement, and cost improvement programs. Required to handle multiple assignments of varying scope and complexity

Responsible for manufacturing and process engineering functions. Ensure Production Managers and Supervisors receive the support they need from the engineering group in order to accomplish production goals. Maintain and improve manufacturing equipment and processes to ensure product meets required product performance requirements and associated specifications. Comply with appropriate regulatory agencies (i.e. GMP, ISO, FDA, etc.) and associated quality systems described in HLIC’s documentation.

Essential Functions
  • Responsible for the design and implementation of machine improvements and capital equipment project management activities. Proficient in mechanical design and troubleshooting.
  • Directs personnel in the troubleshooting and maintenance of cam driven mechanisms and pneumatic and hydraulic equipment used in the production process.
  • Supports the plant manufacturing effort, with proven ability to identify problems and pursue plans toward their resolution. Specific focus will be in areas of improving upon chronic levels of quality, waste, and equipment efficiencies.
  • Clear understanding of the role of Engineering in a manufacturing environment.
  • Has knowledge of proper Engineering practices and vendor relationships.
  • Responsible for coordinating activities between equipment vendors, Division R & D, and plant functional departments on his/her assignments.
  • Ability to handle projects of a moderate to large scope requiring extensive coordination. Will be required to handle several assignments (project and process duties) simultaneously.
  • Prepares and submits capital appropriation requests and controls expenditures on these projects as required.
  • Has knowledge of established safety standards and operator interface with equipment.
  • Completes or supervises the completion of necessary designs, drawings, calculations, and specifications on associated equipment.
  • Recommends vendors for commercial items and materials needed for a project.
  • Establishes which elements comprising a job are suitable for in-house fabrication or revision and which items would be best contracted. Secure quotations and select contractors; direct the contractor’s efforts or the efforts of in-house forces to a satisfactory scheduled completion of the necessary work. Supervise and support the inspections all work in-process by contractors or plant forces; provide guidance where necessary.
  • Responsible for the recommendation of capital equipment or process modifications, their physical installation, debugging, and associated training of production personnel.
  • Required to have awareness of product performance and quality requirements within scope of his/her assignments.
  • As required within the scope of his/her duty, be responsible for all associated documentation, including; however not limited to, the following; validations, Operational procedures, Preventive Maintenance schedules, Engineering Change Notifications, spare parts listings, etc.
  • Required to develop a firm understanding of all equipment for which he/she is responsible to include Programming, set-up, adjustment, and assessment of possible improvements.
  • Responsible for realization of budgeted cost reductions and productivity improvements.
  • Accountable for spending (capital or expense) within approved limits on programs.
  • Directs the efforts of support personnel such as machinists and technicians, etc. in the improvement, modification, adjustment, removal, and installation of new or existing equipment as required.
  • Utilize software such as Solid work CAD/CAM, M.S office to accomplish tasks and report on Engineering projects.
Qualifications

The candidate should have the following qualifications.

  • Must have bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent educational experience
  • Must have a minimum of 2-5 years of work experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing initiatives with an emphasis in continuous improvement
  • Six Sigma certification (greenbelt or blackbelt) preferred but not required
  • Must have high-speed automated assembly experience in the following areas
    • Synchronous and asynchronous assembly platforms utilizing PLC and Industrial communication
    • Cam-operated equipment
    • Pneumatics and servo-controlled assembly
    • Low-voltage electrical

Manufacturing Tool & Die/Mold Maker

Job Summary

The Tool and Die/Mold Maker will be responsible for utilizing shop tools/equipment and interpreting 2D/3D drawings for the fabrication, maintenance, repair, and engineering changes on company tools that support high-speed automation, injection molds and mold parts. Will work with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and improve equipment performance.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance and assist to improve and create procedures and standardized work methods
  • Maintain shop supplies and records, such as spare tooling and perishable and raw materials by improving and/or creating standardized procedures
  • Evaluate precision tooling and injection molding problems to recommend and implement modifications as corrective actions
  • Root cause identification and communication
  • Maintain areas, workbenches, desk, tool boxes, etc., and keep organized at all times
  • Work independently and function as part of a team, while working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Utilize software such as SOLIDWORKS CAD/CAM and Microsoft Office to accomplish tasks and report on Engineering projects
  • Coordinate activities to ensure departmental compliance to all Federal, State, Local, and Company regulatory requirements.
    • These elements include but are not limited to FDA, EPA, OSHA, ISO, EEOC, and Company policies relative to the manufacturing of product, lot control requirements, documentation requirements, housekeeping, preventative maintenance, calibration, associate training, and safety (equipment, associate, and material).

Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications

  • Must have the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Must have good troubleshooting skills
Education & Experience
  • At least 2 years of Tool and Die trade school, with a 4-year apprenticeship or equivalent
  • Journeyman Tool and Die, Mold Making Certification, or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years of tool making or tools repair and maintenance experience
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
